U2 Singles

Si por algo se caracteriza U2, es por la gran cantidad de Singles que editan por álbum publicado. Esta característica nos puede dar una idea de la gran calidad de sus albums. Tres ejemplos:

En 1987-1988, con motivo de la publicación de su álbum, The joshua Tree, U2 edito 5 singles: “With or Without You”, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, “Where the Streets Have No Name”, “In God’s Country”, “One Tree Hill”.

En 1991-1992 con su álbum Achtung Baby, publicaron de nuevo 5 singles: “The Fly”, “Mysterious Ways”, “One”, “Even Better Than the Real Thing”, “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses”.

Esta tendencia continua en la actualidad: En 2004,2005,2006 con motivo de la publicación de U2 How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, publicaron los singles “Vertigo”, “Sometimes You Can’t Make It on Your Own”, “All Because of You”, “City of Blinding Lights”, “All Because of You”, “Original of the Species”.

También es destacable el trabajo de la banda en las caratulas de los singles: Siempre han sabido rodearse de excelentes artistas para reflejar, en cada momento, el espíritu de la banda. Algunas de las caratulas de Singles mas destacadas podrían ser: La del Single I will Follow, por la controversia que desato en Estados Unidos, donde tuvo que ser cambiada por una foto distorsionada de los 4 componentes de U2 o la caratula del Single One, realizada por el artista David Wojnarowicz, que murió de SIDA. Los beneficios del single fueron a parar a la investigación de esta terrible enfermedad.
